In the I.W.S.C. 2002 Competition, 'Other Spirits - Poteen' category, Waterford bottled Knockeen Hills was the only award-winning poteen brand.

The Farmers Strength 60% Abv. won the Silver Medal, the Gold Extra-Strength 90% Abv. (Ireland's strongest produced spirit) won the Bronze Medal, and the Gold Strength 70% Abv. was awarded the 'Commended Certificate'.

In the history of the I.W.S.C. it is the only time a single brand has ever taken these three awards in one category.
