Gilbert of Rugby® the official producer of rugby balls in virtually all international games, and Knockeen Hills Irish Poteen®, have jointly authorised and licenced the production by Creative Innovations® of the above in geographically certified 590 million year old blue slate. This is quarried at a depth of over 1,500 feet at the Penrhyn Quarry, North Wales which lies at the heart of Snowdonia, where this world's finest quality slate was first used as a roofing material in the 13th Century.
The centuries old craftsman method of hand casting and hand finishing has been employed by Creative Innovations® who are the sole firm worldwide, licensed to produce official Gilbert of Rugby® memorabilia hand cast in slate. The final polishing in copper is also applied by hand. Creative Innovations also sponsor the Irish Motorcycle racing team at their Aberdare Park national road races in Wales. The firm's founders have established family links with Waterford, Ireland.
The miniature glass bottle placed within one of the specially retained recesses, contains 60% Vol. Farmers Strength Knockeen Hills Irish Poteen® which is the only Irish Spirit to have won a GOLD MEDAL at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2003. The other recess contains the officially authorised Knockeen Hills® engraved shot glass produced under licence.
Every model in placed in a presentation box, together with a numbered and hand signed certificate of authenticity.
One model will be on permanent display at the Gilbert® museum, based in Rugby.
